What does the AHRC expect?
Further sources of help
  • DATA MANAGEMENT PLAN REQUIRED AT APPLICATION? Yes – if digital outputs are planned, a Technical Plan (superseded in May 2018 by a Data Management Plan) is submitted at the application stage. This must not exceed two pages. Suggested layout and headings are prescribed by AHRC.
  • HELP WITH COSTS? AHRC notes “…Costs related to long term storage will be permitted providing these are fully justified and relate to the project. Full justification must be provided in Justification of Resources (JoR)”.
  • DATA DEPOSIT AND TIMESCALES? Digital outputs must be made available and accessible via an ‘appropriate repository’ for at least three years after the end of the funded project.
  • ACCESS AND DATA SHARING? The default expectation is that access to these outputs will be free.

The Arts and Humanities Research Council is one of the seven major UK Research Councils.
