Make your data count

Working with data

  • If you are starting a new research project, then you will need to consider issues relating to the management of research data. Many of these issues will be relevant whether or not the research is funded by an external sponsor.
  • Using a checklist and/or writing a data management plan is an essential first step to take at the pre-project stage.  You can then continuously refer to it throughout the project.
  • A useful starting point is the DCC (Digital Curation Centre) Checklist for a Data Management Plan. It presents the main themes and questions that researchers may want to cover when writing a data management plan.
