ARC is a central IT resource that provides a High Performance Computing (HPC) service that is free at the point of use for all researchers in the University of Oxford.

ARC enables researchers to carry out computing beyond the capacity of a personal desktop, both in terms of processing power and memory utilised. The High Performance Computing (HPC) systems supported by ARC are particularly suitable for running applications which are parallel (or could be made parallel) and/or use large amounts of memory.

The service includes: 

  • access to state-of-the-art high-performance computers
  • a wide range of scientific applications installed and ready to use
  • general user support, assistance, and advice on using scientific applications efficiently
  • specialised support and advice on parallel application development
  • a comprehensive range of training courses for both new and experienced users
