Digital Object Identifiers

The Bodleian Libraries can assign Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to datasets that are deposited in Oxford’s institutional repository, ORA. These are issued under licence by DataCite via the British Library. Please contact us for help or further information.

A DOI is a persistent identifier, so should remain constant over time: as long as the DOI record is kept up to date, the DOI will always point to the current location of the data. This is useful for citing datasets in journal articles or other publications – it also aids data discovery and makes it easier to acknowledge the data creators.
