DMPonline is a web-based tool for building a data management plan.

The tool offers templates for data management plans from the major UK funders, plus a generic template which can be used for any research project. Plans can be exported for inclusion in a funding bid, and shared with colleagues. Guidance on completing the templates is provided.

Oxford supports a customised version of DMPonline. If you indicate that your institution is the University of Oxford when registering or when creating a new plan, you will be able to view guidance which includes pointers to Oxford services and resources. (If you have previously used the generic version of DMPonline, you can still use the same login credentials for the Oxford version, and you will retain access to your data management plans.)

You can log in to DMPonline using your Oxford Single Sign-On username and password, but to do this, you’ll first need to register with DMPonline and link your account to your Oxford credentials. This is quick and easy to do.

The DMPonline tool is provided by the Digital Curation Centre, a national body whose website provides a wealth of additional information, including details of funders’ requirementsexample DMPs, a useful DMP checklist, and a how-to guide on creating one.

For more information about this tool, you can watch DMPonline: Introduction and Basics (SSO login required), a recording of a presentation given at the Oxford Festival of Open Scholarship 2023.
