What does the AHRC expect?
Further sources of help
  • DATA MANAGEMENT PLAN REQUIRED AT APPLICATION? All applications to the Research, Development and Engagement Fellowship scheme, for Research Grants and for Follow on Funding are required to include a data management plan. DMPs are not required for Research Networking applications.
    • The plan should not exceed two pages. Suggested headings are provided by the AHRC.
    • Applicants are required to confirm that they have consulted with their institutions data support services, and that the institution can provide appropriate storage and other support.
    • The DMP requirement replaces the older Technical Plan, which was withdrawn in 2018.
  • HELP WITH COSTS? “Costs related to long term storage will be
permitted providing these are fully justified and relate to the project.” Financial requirements for sharing can also be included. Full information should be given in the Justification of Resources.
  • DATA DEPOSIT AND TIMESCALES? Data should be made available for at least three years after the end of the project. If this is not possible, a justification must be given in the DMP.
  • ACCESS AND DATA SHARING? The default expectation is that access to these outputs will be free. If the intention is to charge for access, this must be justified.
