HFS backup

Visit HFS website

HFS is Oxford’s central backup service, available free of charge to University staff and graduate students. For individual users, HFS uses the cloud-based service Code42 (also known as CrashPlan). A separate service is offered for backing up servers and similar machines: this is used by many departments around the University.

The service stores multiple past versions of your data, so that it can be restored if needed. However, please note that HFS is a backup service, designed to protect against data loss in the event of damage or theft of equipment, hard drive failure, or malware infection. It is not intended as storage for live data, nor for transferring or syncing data.
